Same here in scotland.

I think saying tea sounded far to english to us, so we just used the more common sounding dinner. You often heard your name and the words,your dinners ready floating in the gentle summers breeze as your mum opened the front door and hollered at the top of her voice. You would then drop everything you were doing and sprint home to wolf it down before heading back out to play.

Youd probably get an asbo nowadays for that.
