The voice of reason

however the assumtion that the average Brit was too stupid to make their own risk assessment whilst the top bods at the government level were is a huge insult and disgrace. This pandemic was a real worry for a certain time in first half of 2020 but it soon became clear that only the old with co-morbility were in any danger yet for years we were subjected to ridiculous anti- science and restriction based on the fear of those in power getting the blame for anything. Not one person has been held accountable for the massive overreaction to this virus that has had huge financial and health-related consequences. that is unacceptable |

If lying at the dispatch box is allowed, it sets a very very dangerous precedent for our country.
This is not disproportionate. This is literally defending democracy. I find it hard to remain polite when debating these things, because unfortunately, the truth is that people like you, who enable his behaviour, are the very reason why this country is in its current state. There was a time when people would have resigned for the notion that they had mislead parliament. This man lies, and lies about the lie and then trashes the committee that he requested conduct the inquiry. The man has had £250k of our money to defend himself in this inquiry when he's earned £6m since September. During a cost of living crisis, when public services are beyond breaking point (his doing) and people can't afford to eat. You're defending the indefensible. Unbelievable. As soon as I found out I refused to issue any more fines. Embarrassing for me, embarrassing for the country. The thing is, this is beyond parties now. The issue here is lying at the dispatch box, which I believe is a far more serious crime when we got the issues of misinformation, AI, deepfakes etc, we need to protect democracy and stop setting dangerous precedents. While Blair gets away with lying about that,a so called party and so called lies is nothing, he has and still is imo being hounded when people who have done much worse are slithering away.he has gone and they still cant leave him be. maybe he should have sent people to war. We have ALL lied and yes I know he was PM,but a lie is still a lie .

we don't like to acknowledge it, but the world is a completely different place to when blair was in power. Blair wouldnt get away with half of what he did in todays environment. So saying blair lied as well just doesn't cut it

but you don't justify a misdeed today by the fact someone else did something similar 30 years ago. That is insane

Yes,people turning a blind eye is wrong,we all know it happened a long time ago,but people still get jailed for misdeeds many years ago,so why is Blair any different, just because for example the Holocaust happened years ago does NOT excuse the foul deeds of someone in power, would the same people turning a blind eye to Blair do the same with Hitler, I sincerely hope not.
