I don't keep coins in my pockets, but there's £30+ kicking around various surfaces throughout the house (I think I saw a £1 coin behind the kitchen bin earlier, still haven't bothered to pick it up ) and also there's maybe another £10-£15 in change in the car.

Very rarely use cash, I carry £50 for the rare occasions it's needed but then NEVER use the change, just break a note and then the change ends up deposited wherever I happen to put it down and stays there until its whittled away by eldest daughter grabbing a few £ here and there to go to the shop with her pals. We don't do "official" pocket money... She just spends the mysterious house-cash when she needs it.

Yeah we never did pocket money either, we have a tin of change and the kids just used that if they needed to go to the shop or whatever or just asked for money if they needed more than change

I have 3 change dishes by my bedside and often fairies come and steal all the pound coins and 10 bob bits leaving the other stuff to build up. Been happening for years

When I say fairies i mean my brats

My in laws had one of those tins that you have to break open with a can opener when you want to get the money out, had been putting in money (including £5 and £10 notes) for 15 years ... When they eventually opened it there were only a couple of notes inside. My wife had spend her teens fishing them out with a fork, and then (unknown to each other) her sister who is 8 years younger had spent her teens doing the same .

My dad used to always have loads of coins in his pockets, which would fall out when he was sat on the couch and end up inside the base of the chair. At about 14 I cut a secret hatch in the bottom of the sofa and cleared it out regularly. Got about £5 a week out of that sofa all through my teens.
