Like I said in another thread, if we separate the two roles of Youth Worker and youth worker, aka with and without capitals. With, you need a specific or at least relevant degree, and it refers to a certain role, or at least set of roles. no capitals, anyone who works with children or young people can technically call themselves that. It might not be "technically correct" but it's accepted, if that makes sense.
My theory is that she's a Scout leader or something like that, and doesn't want to list herself as unemployed.
Also, anyone who works with CYP will tell you we have a bit of a "front" we put on. While she shouldn't be acting the way she does in a place where her kids will see (i.e. on tv!) I'd believe her if she said she was completely different at work.
