Default If you could un-invent something, what would it be?…

…what and why would you un-invent….?…with the movie Oppenheimer, there’s one very obvious but there are more than that one …maybe social media platforms…?…but yeah, what would you cancel from existence which wouldn’t be a loss as such …because it would have never been…

All religions
People are willing to die and kill others without having any proof that it actually exists

More people have died in religious wars than all the other wars put together

The number of people who have not died due to religion far outweighs those who have died in religious wars

the 10 commandments alone for example

in many ways religion was invented to stop conflicts and keep people together and peaceful

Japan were losing at that point.

They would've surrendered out of necessity.

"It is easy now, after the event, to look back and say that Japan was already a beaten nation, and to ask what therefore was the justification for the use of the atomic bomb"

"From this background I believe, with complete conviction, that the use of the atomic bomb saved hundreds of thousands—perhaps several millions—of lives, both American and Japanese; that without its use the war would have continued for many months"

It would only be worth uninventing something if it also comes with a magical protection meaning that thing (or similar) can NEVER be invented... otherwise you're just delaying the inevitable.

But in the case of the above -- if we can get rid of it, and it can never happen -- social media. Genuinely think it's more dangerous and has done more damage than any bomb.

TBH maybe the entire internet after about 2003.

Bruh.

Without religion, we wouldn't have society.

Without missionaries spreading the, ahem, good word of Jesus, much of Europe and the UK wouldn't be as it is now.

Heck, without some apes looking at the stars, wondering what the hell they are, and coming up with barmy explanations, we might never even have anything other than grass skirts.
