And speaking of my Game funk, I tried Control out over the last couple of days, in the hope that it would break me out of my funk with Gaming. And imo it's no Quantum Break, the story is good on Control (easily my favourite aspect of the Game) but the exploration and map design is ropey to say the least, and the combat is a crime against Humanity, I haven't seen combat this bad since Yakuza 7, in fact it's worse. I'm honestly getting sick to death of Video Games falling into one of five horrible camps. 1. So difficult just to be in with the Souls-Like crowd. 2. Having so little gameplay that you end up feeling like you've watched a really bloated Movie. 3. Monetization. 4. Releasing broken Games on launch. And 5. Somehow combining multiple of these problems into the same Game. I have never felt so low about the Video Game industry before, but for the first time ever in my life, I am considering just not partaking in the industry anymore. I know people might think that I'm either bullshitting or being OTT, but I honestly don't want to support an industry that is either making bad Games, broken Games, or a combination of the two, especially considering buying Games are more expensive than ever before, I could actually spend that money on something actually worth while. Don't get me wrong, I'd still gladly do replays of my favourite Games, play retro Games that I never got to experience when they originally were out, and obviously I will always gladly support Indie developers when I can. However AAA companies need to start bucking up their ideas, as the current quality standard that's formed since 2019 has been shocking, barring the odd exceptions to the rule. Even Resident Evil and Sonic have had boring installments during this period, and that's not something that can easily be said, even in their previous darkest moments, they were still more fun than Village and Frontiers imo.
