It's potentially in all sorts of things from toothpaste to peanut butter. All that can really be said is... if you want to know what you're putting in your mouth, read the label on the back.

I have a low carb high protein diet so I'm one of those weirdos looking at the back of everything in the supermarket if I've not bought it before. Checking to see which sausages have most-meat-least-wheat .

Turns out bulky wheat was giving me joint inflammation so yes significantly. Meat 24/7 from now on.

Breads, cereals, pasta, wheat-based snacks... and a lot of processed food actually has high wheat content if you look at the ingredients .

I'm not full-on wheat free though, I'll have the occasional Wingstop chicken tendy (coating is wheat based) and I don't avoid things like stock cubes etc that have wheat in them. It's not that deep rly.

I'm going to be uncharacteristically awkward and say that really you want unrefined sugars wherever possible. I'd recommend good-quality honey in your tea over bleached cane sugar. Just all-around better .

But seriously, it's good information for people to have.

Basically for anyone that's health conscious, keep a lookout for any of these names in the products that you buy, because for some reason it goes by so many different names.
