That's terrible, especially considering how close he was to getting back.

RIP

But it seemed so avoidable. As a doctor, he must have known the very serious effects extreme heat has on the body - particularly someone so close to 70 years old.

I heard he liked to take risks. Often that is not a good thing.

I think after the dust settles, many people will sit back and highly recommend the elderly do not go out in the midday sun, in extreme temperatures over 30c - in his case 45c. Or at least have a phone and a few water bottles. Plus a fan.

…of course it feels as though it was an avoidable tragedy and not without its ironies either…but how many times do we all say or feel through our lives..’I should have known better…’…because we’re human and we can often not heed the advice we would give…and in this tragic case, it has taken his life…I don’t think the conditions as described and temperatures etc would just be a danger to ‘elderly’…high temperatures are always a potential danger to anyone/everyone and in more than one way …that’s a much known thing and advised and recommended against going out in and being exposed to… and yet, as you say…people will ‘take risks’….it doesn’t make it all any the less a tragic ending of life…

There have been alot of suggested reasons why he went off, they said he felt ill and walked back to his Villa, not sure any wife or friends would leave someone who didn't feel well walk back on their own, I think he might have been testing himself in the heat for a future podcast or project, tragically it went very wrong

I don't think we should be too critical of the search operation, they worked incredibly hard in very difficult conditions. Remember it took our emergency services nearly a month to find Nicola Bulley

TV's Dr Michael Mosley has died of natural causes according to an initial post-mortem, local police said.

The TV doctor died at 4pm on Wednesday, just two and a half hours after leaving his wife on St Nicholas Beach, the same day he was reported missing on the Greek island, Symi. Police spokesperson Konstantia Dimoglidou told the BBC that no injuries have been found on his body that could have caused his death.

…for me, the thing that I would have taken comfort in is that his time of death was approximated just a few hours after he parted from his wife …so very quickly….if that was to be the end to his life, which it has been…that’s what I personally would want to hear…just all very sad…

Natural causes after a 2.5 hour trek in 40 plus heat?

Its like saying someone died of natural causes after falling in sub zero temps and lying there for 2 hours

The other thing I dont understand it why he kept going when he must have realised he went the wrong way, it was a 20 minute walk back to the Villa but he was walking for 2 and a half hours?

Exactly my thoughts .. unless he was simply dehydrated and over-heated and was wandering around in a complete daze

Not making sense this.

Michael Mosely went on a boat trip from Pedi to Saint Nikolas beach with his wife and friends.

Instead of staying for the afternoon on the pristine beach with his wife and friends he decides to walk back home to Symi via Pedi at 13:30 in the midday sun.

He then 'get's lost' walking back when clearly the route back to Symi was over mountains and the sea bay would not be on your right side.

So unless he lost all sense of perspective you would have easily known you were on the wrong route.

Yet he continued with his walk to Agia Marina and then died just 60 metres away from the beach bar and resort? This is whole thing stinks.

Something very 'Praia de Luz' about it all
