Him (& pals) are/were all clearly knee deep in Tenerife/Moroccan drugs trade. He's either actually dead, or desperately wants everyone to think he's already dead. Either way I don't think the full story on this is ever coming out.

Here is my theory, these two randoms didn't just pick Jay out of a crowd to go back to their Air B and B to carry on the party, he was targetted due to his involvement in some dodgy dealings, under threat he left the Air B and B and was instructed to engage with locals asking about buses thereby creating their alibi that he left the house alive, he was then instructed to take the path, followed by one or both of the two men, told to make the call, and then murdered and buried somewhere as a warning to anyone else involved.

After this length of time, he is either dead or in hiding. If he were still alive he would have contacted his pals for drugs or money (maybe the gofundme)

I tend to believe he is dead, he was involved with some very dodgy people in a trade where violence is the norm. In that trade, it's only a matter of time until you are taken off the map by someone
