Lily seems to have lived without learning any of the norms of social expectations or boundaries throughout her 20 years. She is almost feral in so many of her behaviours!

There is the possibility that she has been unable to learn, though she has shown often enough that she has more intelligence than she chooses to pretend. To be this feral, it could well suggest she has been spoilt and allowed to get away with whatever she wants for far too long.

The Mother is probably not impressed herself at Lily's hygiene in the house.

I'm sure that she's proud of her overall, but the floordrobe is not really something I would imagine any Mother encouraging.

Plenty of capable adults weren't smacked as children and grew up just fine, smacking isn't the only way to discipline your children. I grew up fine and so did my kids

Utterly disgusting and nasty , that's probably another reason why she has toothache...not just from the dreadful diet of junk & sugar ,but also from the bacteria she's picking up .

Who leaves their toothbrush face down on the floor, even when I drop my hairbrush ...I'm cleaning it to make sure no dust or anything got on it . But an actual toothbrush ...ewww. she doesn't brush her teeth properly either, she's like grouch from sesame Street
