Default 24hours, after Australia Banned under 16's to be online

Reports that many youths have made New Accounts
So they are still back on their phones.

New Report on CNN USA Live on UK TV,

[Under the legislation, the onus is on social
media platforms for keep children under 16 off.
Fourteen-year-old cheerleader Lucy Brooks briefly
lost some friends on Snapchat when Australia's ban
on social media came into effect on Wednesday.

But within 24 hours, they were back.]

I would say they need more time
to get this right.

It's a stupid law.

You aren't going to stop teens from using Social Media sites.

I agree with it. Under 16s don’t need to be on social media.

Personally I feel that Social Media needs to do better moderation rather than getting the Government to parent the children.

Agreed, but also why do under 16s need social media?

Well nobody needs Social Media.

It's just people's democratic right to have the choice, which under 16s should also have that democratic right in my view.

If Social Media sites can't moderate their platforms to accommodate the kids, then that platform should be shut down imo.

Social media is not a right, it’s a privilege. Under 16s don’t need social media at that age for any reason.

Same for a lot of adults. Include myself in that. I’ve tried to be more conscious of my time on social media but found it’s so easy to get sucked in and get lost in it. I found it also started to impact and started making me question why I didn’t have certain things in my life instead of actually appreciate things I do have. I decided to cull most social media after that, as I really don’t need it.

They might want to warn youngsters via social media to stay away from Bondi beach.

it could take some time to change properly

Fair enough, and I'm glad for you on that, personally too many of us do get hooked on the Internet in general so it's a good thing when someone can break the habit.

But Social Media was largely designed around younger people using them, so no I still don't support the Australian Government being weirdos once again, by banning them off of Social Media instead of either telling the parents to use Parental Locks on their children's devices (I know, shocker lol) or tell these Social Media sites to actually Moderate their platform when it comes to certain content that children shouldn't be seeing.

But the Aussie Government doesn't want to do that because they want to control and spy on their people, and they use the "think of the children" argument or the "we're trying to stop the immigrants" to try and get people on side. It's basically the same evil manipulation that Trump and Starmer try when doing disgraceful policies that nobody asked for as a top priority, and benefits nobody long term.

Definitely a reason why under 16's need Social Media.

Because under 16's don't watch News on TV or read Newspapers when it comes to breaking news.

If that were true, they’d want them on social media to be able to spy on them.

Also, social media wasn’t designed for kids, young adults (16+) is who it was originally designed for.

Social media is harmful. Is there any doubt about that? Parents should have the decision as to whether their kids should have social media and I believe most of them would say absolutely no. They're still children. One of my nieces was badly bullied at school by a couple of little ***** who folded like lawn chairs when they were found out. Horrible, wicked kids, their parents were absolutely mortified because they had no idea what their daughters were doing. Thank God my niece had people around her who understood the technology and realised under 16s don't have the common sense to handle stuff like that. And if parents don't understand the technology, bloody learn it.
