ALL religions are only echos or reflections of the best and worst of human nature (and the culture of the civilization that conceived it).
Quote:
Religion only became the pacifier of fears, answerer of questions, justifier of wars, etc., because humanity bore fears that it needed to pacify, questions that it needed answered, bloodlust/territorialism/greed that made war desirable, etc. And, in fact, the opposite of your statement is, -most often-, more accurate. -Most- people just take the best bits out of the religious texts and conveniently ignore or never even read the truly horrific parts. The christian bible, for example promotes rape and abduction as a war tactic and wiping out 'barbaric' civilizations (read: genocide). It justifies owning and beating slaves, denounces women as evil and stupid and dispensable, valuing them as mere property, denounces masturbation as wicked and dirty (*gasp* (O.O) Ohhhh noes!) and on and on and on... I cannot speak as much, to the Qur'an, as I wasn't raised in a Muslim community, and I did not write a thesis on it. Though I do know, from research I've done in the past, that there are some objectionable (to say the least) things in there, as well. Some is the same as above... sanctioned rape of captured female slaves, for example. It is just indicative of social norms, ideology, and law, at the times that these religious texts were conceived and written,... as well as, a very dark dismal side of human nature. Wah, wah, wah.... ![]() ![]() |

thats a well made point..im not arsed about going in depth right now but lets just get something crystal clear for those with the same mind frame as *************..from page 1 ive seen some contradictions from the lad, first rule of islam as with every religion is to accept diversity and not judge others..no matter how closely you follow religion atleast accept that religion is about YOUR relationship with the god,as appose to random profanity being thrown around lets just worry about ourselves and not judge noone...

You know when you goto an Indian resturant, it not actually Indian.
India main religion is Hinduism and Hindus don't eat meat, so how can an Indian resturant be Indian if it is selling food with meat in it. These resturants are more than likely Bangladesh or Pakistani. Actual Indian resturant would be Sakonis which is vegetrian all the way through with your sterotypical Hindu large family all cousins uncles aunties and grandpa raj get together. |

Hira doesnt represent the muslim community.
Nor would the muslim community wish to be represented on a sho like BB. Nor would they want to be represented by her. If anything, Jermain Jackson was a good role model. |

I don't get how exactly is she a 'strict muslim girl'? I mean seriously as a muslim you wuld know that a husband would never ever ever let his wife go to a place like BB where there's alcohol and men! She would shame her family and her husband. I can't stress this point enought. |

lol that doesnt mean shes not a strict muslim just because she is not bound by a ball and chain..your actually blurring the diffrence between culture and religion, religion does not dictate where she can and cant go,its narrow minded traditions that do so..
so yeah she is a strict muslim as she prays five times a day and perhaps does more than those who wish to say she is not a strict muslim... |

Arguing about religion is very much like fighting over deck chairs on the Titanic!

However the name 'Indian' has stuck and it wouldnt be the same if it was changed. The indiginous British folk wouldnt want to change it either. They would want 'Indian' even if it isnt. lol |

There are lots of Jews, usually Liberal or Reform Jews, who east pork and don't follow the Kosher rules so I guess there must be Muslims who do the same. The Jews I know would still consider themselves Jewish but living in the 21st century and not bound up by 3,000 rules.
I'm a Christian and believe fully in rights for all regardless including Gays as Priests etc. Then there are many Christians who believe the opoosite. We would still call ourselves Christians but again living in the 21st century rather than in the Old Testament. |
