Yes like school, most kids would avoid school if they could simply because they want to go out and play, as they mature they start to become more interested in learning what schools have to offer. however give most kids the chance and they would prefer a lot more time off school than at school.

There is also a difference that education of one sort or another is compulsory in the UK.
