But thats what all religious people do, some parts of the book of gods own words are deemed to be more important than others, they are also categorised as being more true than others.

The important thing to remember though is that god loves us all and even after we sin he still loves us, even though we can kill rape and maim, we only need to say sorry to god and ask that he forgive us and he will.
