I disagree it's principally the Steve fall out, though of thats a big factor no doubt. Bens drift has happened as soon as his constant solo tasks, and the camera time they bring, stopped (punishment or otherwise). He is just seeing the rise and fall that Mario experienced with his mole task. All he has done for days is whine, snipe and sni1gger in the snug and his 'victim' shine has dulled for many as they have seen his outer persona change recently from bumbling toff into arrogant bitch.
