i guess I'm drawing on personal experience here, I used to know somebody who was manipulative like josie. I'm not saying JJ is perfect. truth be told I did not like him at first especially when he exploded at rachael. but I really like him now and part of that is how he struggles to say the right thing a lot of the time.
