I think the x effect is overrated. Cheryl will be the first of 6 performers to get the #1. If the hit rate is only 1 every 3 weeks then that will only be 3 number ones through the whole show.

I'd expect Rihanna to get to #1, and probably Nicole Scherzinger if she's promoting her new song on the X Factor.

Rihanna could score a #1 without X Factor (she does it time and time again) and if Nicole hadn't been on the earlier rounds and taken to so well she probably wouldn't get a #1, but her performing is just like Cheryl performing imo

Yeah but the X Factor will bolster Rihanna's sales, I mean. And yeah definitely, Nicole Scherzinger had flop written all over her as a solo artist until that stint on the X Factor!

I don't think Nicole is anywhere near Cheryls popularity. Unless it was a really strong song I doubt an XF performance would get her a number one.

Oh I know that, I just meant it a bit loosely. Nicole was extremely popular after her stint on X Factor so obviously when she performs its almost as though shes returning and her initial XF popularity will still be there. She has bombed in the past as an artist in her own right and without such a big push needs PCD just as much as PCD needs her

Yes, and her huge sales indicate that she would have grabbed number one without that performance.

Of course, it helps. But its not the only reason she's number one.

I don't like Cheryl at all but Zippy's right, she would have gone straight to number one, even without performing it on X Factor. That I think was clear.

This morning though, I want to find the friend of mine who set up on my comp,loads of thumbnail photos of Cheryl to greet me when I first switched on my comp. Had to admit, I smiled at it though.
