No he was in his 40's. Quite 'past it' in some peoples eyes. Blinkered ones mainly

Davids pretty young. I really don't see what all the fuss is about. Age? Or just the fact they are gay? Does it really matter? The little boys made for life. That aside look at the people around him. Didn't see many kicking up as much fuss as 50 odd year old Madonna adopted thousands

Why? He's ditched his entire career to devote time to the baby

He can write, he can sing. OK he might not be up for the crocodile rock but he's as fit as a fiddle

Flippin' 'eck grandparents don't get written off. Infact they get used to look after the kids and often have them more than the parents! He's not past it. Plus (again) he has David too

you were the one banging on about a Mother's love, not 'ordinary couples'. I see you had no answer to my comments about Tracey Connelly, Karen Matthews then? What love did they show their children? Being a child's biological mother does not grant direct pathway to a loving, caring, protective and nuturing environment or upbringing.

As for your comments above: Elton has gone through the surrogacy route: not regular adoption -it's an entirely different process and cannot be compared in the way you are trying to do.

I'm quite sure Elton would be delighted never to need to take care of your dog. I'm sure he'll be far more delighted at taking care of his son.

Um, no. People usually aren't bored creating a family. But he must be.

He's a millionaire, can buy anything he wishes. And now he's found the ability to buy a baby.

He's 63 by the way.

Now I read he's going on a world tour. So commitment is obviously very high on his list - commitment to his career I mean.

It matters not a jot the reasons why he has retired from his career (and very long and fruitful one I might add). It allows him the time to devote to raising a young child - to devote his time soley to being a father along with a younger partner.

Hardly the crime of the century is it.

so what if he's going anywhere - on tour / work ... so what?

plenty of 'regular parents' work away, plenty of them - on contracts abroad, on oil rigs, in the forces, on assignments that they cannot take family with them ....so you are saying that any parent who does that is not committed to their children? utter nonsense.

Plus plenty of celebrities bring the tots on the road. And before you get your knickers in a twist about 'nyah that's not suitable!' his tour bus is probably better equipped than most houses. I'm sure the wee lad will be fine.

It's surrogacy so it'll be his child though, he won't be adopting (that's how it works isn't it?)

Usually yes. Sometimes they go by independant donors but the usual route is that one parent is the sperm or egg donor (sometimes both and the surrogate is no biological relation to the baby)

Tell you what... if you're going to ask me a question, I'm big enough to answer it all by myself. Yes I do think Elton John would be a good father - I have no reason to suspect otherwise.

All you appear to be doing is coming across in your posts as being incredibly bitter at this news. Any particular reason why you should hold such a grudge - against Elton John or anyone of his age, becoming a father - by whatever means.

Oh don' be so silly. You don' know Elton at all yet here you are making all kinds of utterly ridiculous assumptions about his motives and intentions. And the very idea that he worries about status symbols is just laughable.

There's 'talk' that it was David's sperm...... Elton may not necessarily be the biological Daddy.

The only ones who will know for sure, are those who need to know I guess. quite right too.... it's really buggar all to do with anyone (but it's good to guess!)

because every child should be brought up by someone who can give it a happy and active life not an old granddad, who only wants it for a status symbol
