Jeff is a really decent guy, I think he tries to see good in everyone, he is right to not allow Jack Tweed to be close to his Son's, after all Jack was only extremely briefly their stepdad, he has really nothing to do with them.
Jeff could have said more but really this shows a continuance of his dignified and respectful protection of his 2 boys.
A pity Jack Tweed couldn't take on more of Jeff's example.
