First of all I think the student loans in the UK are atrocious. This is why I have never studied there, even I wanted to.
I think you need a minimum of education, you have got to know your basis BUT managers tend to focus on what you're abilities rather than a diploma on your CV.

Still, opportunities can take a long time to come, this is why you need to push the luck and find them.
