I am not saying they do now. I have utmost respect for the mods and I think they are given too much crap for what they do. I was saying if there was a whole forum election for new mods it would just be like most loved and we would end up with someone being elected just because they promised they would ban a certain member or something.

But ukturtle said that that's not how they judge. He said that they look at general activity, rather than members electing popular members. I do see your point, though, but I don't think it happens on here.

Yes I know it doesn't happen, but my first reply was in relation to lostalex's post about how a popularity contest wouldn't necessarily be bad and I was saying actually it would.

I don't understand why people feel the need to complain about the mods anyway. They provide a service to the forum and don't get paid or anything. If they did not do what they do then the forum would be a rife with spammers and unfindable threads.
