No. There is nothing 'mystic' about it. It's something like this:

- BB was losing more and more of the broader general audience. It was reducing itself to a 'core' audience of hardcore fans and found it self more and more reliant on appealing 'down' to that core.

IF 5 believed they could 'reverse' this they would. They would be making efforts to 'expand' the appeal. This could mean alienating some of what we will call the 'Gay and JJJ' crowd,
but,
at the benefit of bringing back some mainstream masses and bringing in a 'new generation' of youth.

But they did not. They went for the desperate last-chance solution that C4 was already squeezing dry.
Only difference is theirs is cheaper, tackier, crass and so desperate as to be condescending.
But it is a sure sign they gave up before it started. They are absolutely NOT in this to build anything.
This is NOT going to be here for any kind of 'resurrection' or any such thing.

It is clearly for squeezing the last drops out of the hardcore 'Gay and JJJ' people left-over from the real series.

This reminds me (and I suppose this is lost on most here) but this reminds me of the old USA sitcom trends.
If you had a successful comedy you would make cheap 'quick-buck' spin-offs. Usually around whatever other wacky zany characters got the cheap laughs.
Then you milked that spin-off with every gimmick, cliche and annoying catchprase.
and when that quickly ran out of steam you brought in a precocious child and then a talking dog and finally Fonzie is jumping sharks in a very special Hawaii 2-parter.

No mystic predictions here. This is just the ugly truth in front of your nose.

Well the launch had a peak of 6 million and an average of 5 million and BOTS had 1.6 million so lets all laugh at ElProximo.

With ratings like these it will sure stay around for a while! it all depends on how well the rest of the series dows though, launch nights usually do good anyway.

You can't laugh yet. You don't know anything yet. You have to keep something in mind:
This is not just a case of a delayed start or lack of competition or that there was a CBB opening with potential stars.
This was the first night of what (maybe) was the entirely new BB. I suspect a lot of people like me (non-gayJJJ) and 'Purist' who remember hearing 'Back to Basics'.

What you want to see is how many RETURN and carry on watching. I suspect a whole lot of your 'mainstream masses' was sorely disappointed and won't be coming back.
I suspect you see the numbers drop far and wide once we get a few weeks into the scripted regular series.

Maybe I'm wrong but you have no reason to believe anything yet.
