I think if it was her own conscience she wouldn't have a need to tell others about her good deeds. So it must be for others I guess, so they have a better opinion of her.

And I feel she's very calculating.

Oh...it's her conscience. She's trying to convince herself that what she is doing is okay........and mitigating it with the 'good charity work'. As well as, as you say: hoping others will see the 'good' side and what she clearly feels is a 'less worthy' side.

Pissing on people for a few quid - hey: each to their own - but some things are best left unspoken and kept for behind closed doors. She WANTED people to know about that side of her. For the reason I agree with you on....she is calculating..... she's the sociopath in the house.
