Its Americans that started calling them Latinos and Hispanics. They didn't come up with that classification themselves. IIRC y'all used to call them "Spanish people". Never mind that Spanish people are actually people from Spain.

Its not the first time y'all used someones else's name to refer to another group of people. Like calling the Native Americans, Indians. Its crazy that y'all still continue to do that. When Christopher Columbus went to the Americas, he thought he reached India. So he called the Native people Indians, but its been hundreds of years since that. Everyone knows that it was a mistake. So why are you people still calling them Indians? Indians are people from India.
