I think as I read through political history, the Unions caused as many problems for Labour Govts as they have for Conservative ones.

Really,from what I have read and seen on documentaries, the Unions brought down the Labour Govt in 1979,so I doubt really any party can influence the Unions once they decide they want action of some sort.

I agree, the issue this Union has now though does not need any strike action whatsoever in my view.
