Green Day have revealed that they will release three new albums in the next year.

The band confirmed that the release will take the form of a trilogy, with the albums to be named ˇUno!, ˇDos!, and ˇTré!.

"We are at the most prolific and creative time in our lives," the members of Green Day said in a statement.

"This is the best music we've ever written, and the songs just keep coming. Instead of making one album, we are making a three album trilogy. Every song has the power and energy that represents Green Day on all emotional levels.

"We just can't help ourselves... We are going epic as ******!"

The band are working on the trilogy in Oakland, California with their long-term collaborator, Warner Bros Records chairman Rob Cavallo.

ˇUno! is scheduled for US release on September 25, 2012 by Reprise Records, followed by ˇDos! on November 13, 2012 and ˇTré! on January 15, 2013.

Green Day's confirmed festival commitments include shows in Japan, France, Germany and Italy during August and early September, with further dates to be added in due course.

Green Day have unveiled the artwork for their new album 'iUno!' in their latest video instalment.

The pop-punk trio debuted the new cover, which features singer Bille Joe Armstrong's face, with his eyes crossed out, against a swamp green background, via a new YouTube clip. You can watch the video by scrolling down the page and clicking.

The trailer shows the trio recording the new album in their studio. There's also a glimpse of a white board with, presumably, the record's song titles. They include 'Carpe Diem', 'Crushing Bastards' and 'Makeout Party'.

The pop punk veterans announced late last year that they would be releasing three albums, one in September, one in November and one in January and have now revealed exactly when the albums will come out.

'ˇUno! ˇDos! ˇTré!' will be released in three stages, with the first album 'ˇUno!' coming out on September 25 in the US and September 24 in the UK.

The second LP 'ˇDos!' comes out on November 13 in the US and November 12 in the UK and finally, 'ˇTré!' will come out on January 15 2013 in the US and on January 14 2013 in the UK. All the albums are available to pre-order now from the band's official website Greenday.com.

Green Day will play headline shows at Japan's Summer Sonic festival and France's Rock En Seine in August and a headline slot at I-Day festival in Bologna, Italy on September 2 as well as three shows in Germany in late August.

Although the band currently have no UK dates scheduled, their American Idiot musical will tour later this year. The musical will be in the UK for three months, ending up with a two-week run at London's HMV Hammersmith Apollo in December.

Green Day have announced the name of the first single to be taken from their forthcoming 'ˇUno!' album, the first of their 'ˇUno! ˇDos! ˇTré!' album trilogy.

The track, entitled 'Oh Love', will premiere on July 16, according to Green Day's official site, Greenday.com.

'ˇUno! ˇDos! ˇTré!' will be released in three stages, with the first album 'ˇUno!' coming out on September 24. The second LP 'ˇDos!' comes out on November 12 and 'ˇTré!' on January 14 2013. All of the albums are available to pre-order now from the band's website.

The collection will include 1990's 1,039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours, 1992's Kerplunk, 1994's Dookie, 1995's Insomniac, 1997's Nimrod, 2000's Warning, 2004's American Idiot and 2009's 21st Century Breakdown.

Each album will come in a thin sleeve and they will all be placed inside one box.

The release comes ahead of their upcoming trilogy of albums project.
