I think it's maybe time the more moderate Muslim leaders realised that they need to start educating the next generation of Muslims that you need to practise what you preach, and that this form of Islamic extremist fanaticism has no place in today's world.

I do see the sentiment that you offer there but we do have to remember that it wasn't so long ago that Christians were also patrolling the world on crusades doing the same sort of things. In many ways the states is still doing the same thing even today.
Seems to me that today's world, is actually many different worlds that are not all evolving at the same pace or frankly in the same time period.
I don't know what the answer is, but if the problems are going to be solved they must first be fully understood in my view.
