I know next to nothing about art. I know a couple of the most famous paintings I suppose and the names of a few artists, but I can't tell you about periods or styles or favourites of mine

I agree with whoever said 'cars', but I never really encounter people who talk about them.

With my friends they'll occasionally bring up Lord of the Rings and I'll just go blank because the franchise doesn't interest me at all.

Fair enough. Maybe not pointless, fine. But it's incredibly boring. (For me anyway.) And that "pointless" bit wasn't going to apply to the vast majority. Just me. Though I probably should've worded myself better but w/e.
