Back to Vermaelen. We paid 12million for him. So we're happy to sell our captain for half what we bought him for?

I'm now starting to think there is something going on at Arsenal that no one knows about. We're the most expensive club to watch our wage bill is big but not huge so why are we selling our best players for nowt.

If Vermaelen goes to Man City he can link up with his Belgian teammate Kompany. That would be a good move for both IMO

We'd never let him go for 6million.. fact, at least when we do sell our players we get good fees for them.. i cant see him leaving this summer anyway

I wouldn't be surprised to see him go TBH. An Arsenal fan mate of mine already knew about this story a few days ago so this is not new news.

I hope Wenger retires soon so he can tell us what the eff is going on cuz no one seems to understand but if we sell Vermaelen then something is definitely going on.

I don't agree with your comment about us getting good money for our players either. We sold Song for 15 mil, Fabregas for about 24mil. These are not massive when you consider ANdy Carroll went for 35 mill, Jordan Henderson went for 20 odd etc. We sell our players for far less than we could get for them if we held out more often.

your comparing the prices of our players to two over priced players bought by the same club and same manager. Nasri went for 24mil, been pretty much a flop since his move - probably wouldnt go for anymore than 15-17mil now, Song has been pretty much a flop too his in first season away, probably wouldnt go for over 10mil now.. we got good prices for them at the time, especially RVP for his age.

It hasn't been any more relevant than usual really...It's always been important outside England.

Teams not good enough to get past the CL group stage and to finish top 4/3 whatever should not be rewarded with another chance to get into the CL by winning a competition originally meant for worse teams than them. Imagine if it comes against a Team that overachieved getting to Europa and then the Final just to face a CL club which is making a **** load more revenue and paying their players alot more wages...generally are in a different world to them. Destroys the Europa league to me.

Yeah, I see your point. We just don't have something like that in any American sport. At least the Europa Champion is an actual champion unlike half the teams in the Champs League (As in teams that didn't win their league)
