I think once Hazel said she felt threatened by his actions they were left with little choice.
Also after watching the footage again that was shown, then really I cannot see where it is appropriate behaviour from him at all.
I would then say they were right to remove him not only for the protection of others in the house maybe but also in fact from himself.
