I think people don't get on here that a lot of American's don't actually have kettles in their houses, especially electric ones. Which makes sense considering Mike in CBB10 did the same thing.

It was a genuine mistake, watch it again and listen to how Carol and Courtney talk over each other but say different things.

Courtney- "So, I just put it in the kettle"
Carol- "Yeah, just put it in the jug"
Courtney- "OK"

I doubt she would go out of the way to purposely do that for any sort effect. I think she just did it by accident, she had no hesitation when she did it, which made it clear she didn't think what she was doing was wrong in the slightest.

Plus, it's something I would have done on my first day at cooking in uni to be fair.

As an American, let me explain. We don't have stock cubes. Our broths come in a can or a box. It took me forever to figure out what a freaking oxo cube was the last time this issue came up.

When I watched it Carol says put it in the jug, which I took to mean put it in the kettle. This is really one of those cultural difference. Courtney maybe an idiot but she was following Carol's instructions and as an American who is 35 and never used a stock cube, I don't think I would have done much better.
