She was 73 when she died but before she was diagnosed she was fit and healthy and never looked her age then over the last year deteriated rapidly to the point where she could barely speak and couldn't even swallow properly.

How very sad! I am sorry. I think believing our partner will die before us is fairly common and a fear of how we will cope with such a devastating loss.I lost my first husband when we were both 27 , terrible, but went on, with three children to bring up, to remarry 10 years later. We have been happily together(most of the time!)for 23 years.I dread the thought of losing him!!
