Nope, until series 7 the sing-off ceased at F5 and the act with the fewest votes was eliminated automatically

Then each year since then they've kept the sing-off until F4, when the acts that made the final have been decided by public vote alone

Announcing two acts safe seems too revealing to me

I mean for me it's not that that bothers me but I can see why it would for other people, I'm more bothered about the fact that a straight public vote would be more exciting this week and announcing the top two will surely just spoil the final, even if it is predictable anyway
