Oh yeah he definitely started backtracking when she came out to the garden, screaming and pointing in his face. She was pretty intense and he was probably not wanting to blow it up any further by arguing any more about it.

I'm sure he regretted what he said about Carson's dressing room, but considering the amount of BS she has shovelled onto him since the minute they entered the house - i think he has done well to hold his tongue as much as he has, for all that time.

No wonder he cracked at some point and said something back in return. Most people would do if you had someone keep trying to start an argument with you and keep putting you down in front of people all the time. Especially when you try and walk away from it and that person just keeps coming for you. That's probably why he called her a loony.

If only she had kept her mouth shut and not baited him constantly from day one then none of this would have happened.

She brought it on herself.

She is obviously menopausal as she is always having hot flushes and fanning herself. Even as a man I know how emotionally all over the place and sensitive women can be when their hormones are running amok, and I'm not being patronizing here I hope: it's the truth.
Personally, if I was dealing with her sniping at me, I wouldn't take opportunities to have my own snipes at her. I certainly wouldn't make comments like 'have another vat of wine dear' on several occasions to wind her up. Not sure what he has on her there, but as he is an alcoholic it was pretty strange.
They are each as bad as each other (though I believe Jim is worse now) and to be honest I take her side more because of what I have written above and because I don't like what he used to be (and could still be, as none of us knows him personally) nor do I like him in the house. I see him as arrogant, manipulative and miserable. I don't like how he deals with situations and his recent lying and trying to shift the blame.

I hope this answers your question and makes sense.
Great post I really appreciate it!

What do you think of him saying to her on several occasions "have another vat of wine dear" when they weren't even arguing? And butting in when she is talking to the group as if she is invisible and that her opinions don't matter?
The HM's have mentioned this a couple of times.

This. Jim knows what he's doing and how to press her buttons, it isn't just her continuously having a go at him for no reason like people are trying to make out.

I don't think that at all but I do think that for every time Jim's made a comment to her, she's always made one to him beforehand. He just seems to take no **** and will give out whatever people give him.

I have lied in awkward situations, I have believed her to be a loony, and I think Luisa WAS sh** stirring. I'm sure I'm not going to burst into flame.

I agree with the original poster.

I cannot agree with this post:

I think this is extremely patronising and even insulting. (Not that I am offended, but I'm just saying). Being female and menopausal does not change someone's personality and it isn't even close to being an adequate excuse for Linda Nolan's sour bitching, spiteful conduct and manipulative behaviour. That over-the-top fake melt-down she had just because of the mention of Frank Carson's dressingroom was pathetic. Yes, we feel sorry that she's had a tough time and has lost her husband, but she felt strong enough to challenge Jim at every opportunity she got and to try to create new opportunities if none came up. Her husband broke the law years ago so it couldn't have come as a shock to her. She was just laying it on thick for sympathy.
.
Jim has basically kept his mouth shut until now, but Linda basically opened the door to the comment during that huge scene she created in the garden beforehand. She brought the whole thing on herself, and I haven't an ounce of sympathy for her. She has probably been bitching about people and creating drama and friction since she was at school.

And as for Jim being miserable.. I'm a fun-loving party animal, and I've have been utterly miserable if I'd been Jim. Every time he walked into the bedroom there was a trio of women like MacBeth's witches, bitching about him. Every time he opened his mouth, she was onto him like a heat-seeking missile. Every time he tried to crack a joke, it got taken the wrong way. No wonder he was grumpy. Yeah, on this one occasion he seems to have tried to wriggle out of responsibility for her being so upset - he probably didn't anticipate her having such an over-the-top response, so he's trying to limit the damage. I have total sympathy for him. No-one is perfect. Most people I know, including myself, would not have coped so well under the same circumstances.

I'd have spent most of my time hiding in the toilet, then eventually would have cracked and told her what I thought of her loudly and at length.
I disagree with your reasoning entirely. Making Jim Davidson out to be a poor vulnerable man at the mercy of a women is laughable.
The only problem he has is that he can't use his fists to shut her up so therefore he can't deal with her. He's a coward, like all wife beaters.

I don't remember seeing Jim beating up any women in Big Brother but i do remember loads and loads of Linda baiting Jim constantly, pushing him for an argument and trying to turn people against him in a nasty way even when he chooses to walk away peacefully

I am not making Jim out to be a poor vulnerable man. I am saying that I find Linda Nolan's behaviour completely unacceptable, and to excuse her behaviour because she is female is patronising and offensive.

I said that I personally would have found Linda's behaviour very difficult to handle. I wasn't implying that Jim spent his time crying in the loo like I'd have done. I was trying to explain how that behaviour could have affected a less resilient person than Jim.

The only reference I could find to Jim Davidson being a wife beater was an press article containing allegations by someone from whom he was divorced in 1988. It's now 2013. That was 25 years ago. People can change.

Jim is being very strong and i admire that. He's got the patience of a saint. I would have screamed right in Linda's face.

I wasn't excusing her behaviour - I was showing some compassion. It's your call if you find that patronising and offensive but you are entitled to your opinion. We all have different levels of compassion within us.

He's a self confessed wife beater, by the way. 'Alleged' is no longer the case.
If you can't see his passive - aggressiveness and manipulative nature in the house then that is fine but it doesn't mean those of us who can are wrong either. His way of operating is far more subtle than anything Linda does and it takes a little more observation to see that he is in no way the poor confused 'what have I done now?' innocent that he makes himself out to be.
