I have thought this throughout the series when people seem to condone the virtues of "I say IT how it is" and "he/she says it to your face" etc. It made me think of a section from the book"The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy":-

The Belcerebon people of Kakrafoon used to cause great resentment and insecurity among neighboring races
by being one of the most enlightened, accomplished and, above all, quiet civilizations in the Galaxy.
As a punishment for this behavior, which was held to be offensively self-righteous and provocative,
