I think it's more that his eyes have been opened. At first he admits he was flattered that someone like her paid attention to him. But he's beggining to realise that Jade is a 'smotherer' and this is isolating him from the others. Before he and Jade got close he had a good friendship with Joel and some of the others, but Jade seems to be a possesive sort, who wants that person all to herself.
Notice in tonight's show that she started being touchy feely with Cristian, who she seems to have ignored up to this point.
