I do disagree with everything that you're saying, I'm just trying to work out your point. I Don't think the situations are remotely similar.

Chloe's joke, although arguably distasteful, did have some witty side to it. I genuinely believe if Sam appeared upset by the joke (instead of the shock and confused reaction) Chloe would have apologised. The main difference for me is that Marc repeatedly uses the same "joke" (the joke which involves zero wit), and decided to repeat the joke although it upsets people. He has never apologised for the joke but has instead tried to spin it in them "why can't you take a joke"

I don't see any similarities really, Chloe has never repeated a joke and definitely wouldn't if she saw it upset people. Marc's jokes are not even technically witty, it's just a cruel dig that he justifies as banter and will repeatedly do so despite the upset it may cause.

I understand you disagree and that you think the situations are super similar so I'm just wondering if you think they're both in the right and they're hilarious or they're both in the wrong and gone too far.

As i child i ostracized and picked on..made fun of by "groups" of other kids at school...but i could alway share a joke with a freind..even one that came at either of ours exspence...and it was not an "attack" .. but a bonding moment

So if you asked which was worse..it was chloe...but in that house..in a shared experience..i think either was ok.

I don't like nasty people..i never have..and i would be fine having a mate like marc..I'm sorry i don't see what you see..he is a good guy

I have a similar relationship with my friends, and probably Marc and his friends too. I'd almost definitely get on with Marc in person but the guy needs a filter. If he can't see when he goes tOo far at his age, he never will. If you don't see how people have a right to be upset with fat "jokes" then it's probably beyond explaining to you too. He has gone too far on many occasions other than this and because he never apologises and never stops, it's clear to me that he's not a nice guy.

I've said from days one he should tone it down..and if he was my friend i'd find away to get that point across to him without making it an argument..

But the point of the thread was chloe being offended when she had no problem making it jokes about sam some i don't think its fair to make a blanket statement about fat jokes being bad and ignoring chloes "humor"

as i said before...i'm as fit as packet of crisps myself and if a friend ..even on the level you can call all the housemates friends ..said that to me i would laugh out loud..

me..I think both where ok...But i think Chloes comment was cruder..(and since i use that kind of humor myself to people i am or wish to be friends with)..I think Marcs jokes (last night) was more good humored. They where meant to be shared jokes with Sam.

like slapping your mate on the back and saying playfully and saying "you can be a real tit sometime you know"

Chloes on the other hand .. was a joke to large group of people..singeing out a third person..who was being made fun of

so honestly you could make the argument that if either joke was cruel..it was chloes

They were all making jokes about the Sam incident, however Marc is the only one telling people they're fat/heavy (he even called Cristian skinny during an argument, always picking on peoples appearances) so, no, Chloe's joke wasn't cruel.

have already addressed why a group teasing someone is offensive..i've focused on chloe because she is the one complaining about the fat jokes
