The problem is the casuals, once they're encouraged to join in standards start slipping and it's 'oooh isn't he cute xx' or 'he seems really nice!' that become the reasons people are voted in. I don't know, I think I'd rather just leave the casting team who are employed to do this to their own devices (even if the casts aren't always on-point)  |
But the casting team would still be heavily involved, they'd just be responsible for selecting more people i.e. choosing 30 rather than 16 so that the public have a roster to choose from.
