I don't mind either way about the post count, although I do like that in C&G I can just post about random crap (I mean literally, this morning )... whereas in other sections I don't, and maybe if posts were counted in C&G there'd be more restrictions on meaningless posts, which I wouldn't like, and they're sometimes the most fun

Because I know fine well that forum games have a tendency to have main threads that're also used as chat threads 70% of the time rather than actual tasks/competitions. And I also know I've been guilty of setting lazy "post count" tasks which really would be considered spam/unnecessary by the forum rules.
I think a separate section for forum games would be a brilliant idea. If someone joined the forum now and saw the section, and maybe started reading through some of the games, it's the kind of thing that grabs interest and makes people want to stay. As it is there's no way for anyone to see anything about any game that isn't currently running or being promoted unless they search specifically for it (but obviously they're not going to know it existed to be able to do that). Some of the most fun I've had on the forum has been when taking part in games so promoting that aspect of the forum could be beneficial.

I had no idea for months after I joined about all the non-BB sections, or maybe I'd seen them and just hadn't thought much about clicking into them, I remember thinking "oh well I bet noone's posting outside the BB section anyway since it's a BB forum"... and my first off season I just assumed noone would use the site and I left... I know a lot of people do explore but if you're not really used to using forums which I wasn't then maybe not so much, so again promoting certain sections might be a good idea.

Agreed. A forum award for hosting is a great idea, the winners get one (usually... hint hint Tom) but the hosts put more effort into them than anyone.

Hmm it seems a bit silly for some posts to count and some not to count. Just me humble opinion

The post count doesn't really matter though surely? seeing as it doesn't necessarily add anything to the forum, if it was something constructive and beneficial I'd agree, but it's not, it's just a few numbers, 90% of my posts that have counted were **** anyway, I'd hate to have my number doubled with even more ****

Post count awards are all I have to show for my time on here

But I've never cared for C&G being a thing in any of the times it's been brought up.

Size doesn't matter. It's what you do with the posts that count.

I don't get why people want a higher post count, so it looks like you spend too much time on an Internet big brother forum?

My issue is that it's pointless to have a postcount showing under all of our names if it's not the actual amount of posts we've made. To be honest, some of the best posts on the forum have been in C&G too. Just remove post count or add C&G, otherwise it's completely and utterly pointless to have that number next to all of our posts.

Don't see the big fuss, in another forum I'm part of Spam doesn't count to post counts, so it's not only here. And it's not that big of an issue altogether in the grand scheme of things. If something isn't broke then don't fix it? I'm sure admin have many other problems on there hands to be dealing with than this endless and needless debate.

To be fair the phrase 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' could've (and should've) been applied when they originally decided to discount C&G posts, it wasn't always like this

It's not something I lose sleep over and only remember or care when the question is brought up again but it doesn't make it any less stupid. A post count is just that, a tally of the number of posts you've made on a forum (this could arguably even include deleted posts tbh). If you start discounting whole swathes of posts then it's not a genuine figure, and it makes all of the awards that are given out pretty ridiculous when you think about it cause the 10k one is probably for like 12,726 posts I'm sure when shops or theme parks award their 'millionth visitor' or something they haven't discounted a bunch of people who loitered or didn't buy anything or whose contribution wasn't deemed worthy enough. TV shows don't discount filler episodes or ones they didn't like in hindsight when they celebrate a 'hundredth episode'. It's all exactly the same, either count the actual number of something or it's pointless

I don't get why people who don't care are even defending that they shouldn't count. You clearly care in that case. I just want it to be accurate because it bothers me that it's not, I want it either to be gone or accurate. ;shrug:

OK Jacks post doesn't mention this but I was just reminded (maybe by the shops bit?) about the time when members actually said they would pay for coloured usernames and a bunch of other crap.
