I agree again.

Anyone who fails to protest and demonstrate with moderate behaviour should as you say, be hauled into the courts for any violent action or any damage.

That is usually a minority I have found of those joining in marches, demonstrating and protests.
However there should be no place for them on such events.

That does not mean those protesting correctly should have their rights to do so removed.

I am also very sure indeed, had Trump got just a few more overall total votes than Clinton but Clinton had then got the electoral college result he did, that Trump supporters too would be out there massively protesting too, with again a minority causing great bother too likely.

I would still be upholding either candidates supporters right to do so however.
Protesting that is with acceptable behaviour.

Very true. Especially given that Trump rallies tended to attract violent types to begin with.

I don't think protesting the result is a bad thing, especially since Clinton lost despite getting more votes. A result like that isn't going to sit well with people and they have a right to make their voices heard. People are allowed to take issue with the Electoral system and to demand changes to make it so that it better reflects the votes.

Yeah we would have loved 4 million Kippers marching given their voice wasn't fairly represented in Parliament, the time to protest was BEFORE the election when there was a 50/50 chance Donald would be elected, they knew how the system worked, they trusted the polls and got too complacent

Oh let them. Racists, fascists, sexists already feel like they're legitimised. Kkk out there more outspoken than in recent years and already stories of people getting their hijab snatched off and n8igger written on doors. Let them lash out. I fear for Americans.

The 25th and 35th President got assassinated- will the 45th? Wouldn't be surprised.

Someone suggested there should be a "none of the above" option on ballot papers which I think would have solved the problem here of voting for a "lesser" evil

Very strong post that indeed.
A lot that should be thought provoking.

Those two people don't represent the entire population though. It's very dictatorial to suggest that peoples views and feelings and voices should be repressed because of what the leaders think. And the win can be accepted whilst still wanting to protest against the system and try and achieve change for the future.

Who would have predicted that the winner would be the person with the least votes? Like Lucas said before, if it was the opposite way around and Trump lost despite getting more votes there would be RIOTS.

People are allowed to be upset, people are allowed to peacefully protest. Trump supporters need to accept that differing opinions exist.

Trump himself indicated that he wouldn't accept the democratic process if Clinton won the presidency.
Trump himself incited violence at his rallies.
Hypocrisy is alive and well.

We were talking to a guy in Texas who told us that he had 1000 rounds of ammunition ready for riots if Hillary won

Where did I say they weren't allowed? My point is that it's too late to be protesting now
