This isn't just a normal election though. There is a lot more at stake - Brexit. If he really believes he would be a better future for many people he may tell some porkies.

Also he knows this is his last chance, he will never lead the party again or ever lead the country. No politician is that honest.

There have been a lot of doubts raised over his manifesto and some people want to believe his policies sooooo much. It is all too unrealistic.
