Ricky Whittle surprised me in this. His American accent is extremely good and he's definitaly a better actor than his HORRENDOUS years in Hollyoaks.

However, Shadow is kind of bland and I'm not sure whether it's because Whittle overdoes the "brooding" thing or whether the writing. Probably a bit of both really. Hopefully he'll be fleshed out more now he's properly been convinced of what's been going on around him.

Having said that, obviously Ian McShane stole the show, as did each of the Gods we were introduced to and also Emily Browning. From the "plot device" in Shadow's story to properly developing more than him. She was actually so good it took me a couple of scenes to realise she was the person playing Essie McGowan.

Can't wait for season 2, it should only get better now they've stopped alluding to things and actually started showing us more. Bring on Wisconsin!!!

Also, a special mention to Gillian Anderson. Give her a bigger part in season 1 please.
