I find his statement really odd. I'm sorry but surely you don't just forget if you've sexually assaulted a child I don't care how many years have passed. And let's say he didn't do it, he's still basically saying that it's something that he can imagine himself doing while drunk, he's not actually saying it didn't happen or wouldn't have happened, just that he can't remember and he's sorry if he did it. That's not a normal response. If you know it's something you wouldn't have done you'd outright deny it. The way it's worded especially at the end makes me wonder if he knows there are other stories that could come out about him and he's trying to limit the damage as much as possible rather than say something now that could expose him as a liar further down the line. The statement's PR - and I wouldn't be surprised if the coming out is intended as a distraction (even though it's no surprise, I always just assumed everyone knew and he knew everyone knew but he didn't like to discuss it publicly).
