I thought the second generation was genuinly better so I don't buy the nostalgia argument.

Maybe it's because I'm 20 now and I have watched three seasons of shows depicting teenage life as being far, far more exciting than most of the viewers will ever experience.

It's had it's day, creatively. The question is will the ratings reflect this. Shameless has shown you can get worse each year and get better and better ratings.

I do prefer Generation 1 followed by Generation 2 though. They all had individual strong characters. However this first episode tonight was still half decent so I will keep watching.

It was an alright first episode, better then I thought it'd be. I don't like the whole Mean Girls thing though, none of them have the charm to pull it off at the moment. In terms of first episodes I'd say:

2>3>1>5>4

I think I only really like Franky & Matty at the moment though, the other characters just didn't leave any impression apart from Liv, she seems like a female Chris.

Having rewatched the previous series recently I still think Gen 1's the best. The only bad episode was the first and the characters were better and more believable I thought. Gen 2 was good but it was let down by an inconsistant Series 4 in which they replaced Naomi & Emily with a pair of hosepipes and ignored Pandora in favour of Thomas... Thomas was the worst Skins character ever.

I liked it, it was intense. Dakota Blue Richard is such a good actress, you can feel she already has experience compared to the others.

Mini is Katie Fitch 2.0: the bitch who has self-esteem issues.

The rest are alright. Matty looks like a deep character. Grace, Alo and Rich are fun.

I actually quite liked it - however Frankie is quite a bad actress. But meh, the characters are more interesting than the last generation. Though I get some strong Generation 1 vibes - Liv is practically Jal's clone, Mini is the posh bitch...
