Hollyoaks star Jennifer Metcalfe says she isn't enjoying her character Mercedes being pregnant because she hates having to wear her bump.

The 27-year-old actress is all loved up with French boyfriend Sylvain Longjambon, who she began dating in November, but while her on-screen alter ego Mercedes Fisher is expecting her first child, Jennifer insisted she is not feeling broody yet.

"I do want kids one day, I absolutely love them, but playing a pregnant character doesn't make me broody. It just makes me sweaty having that bump on!" she told Reveal.

"It's very weird. I've got to wear this big ball around my tummy, and it's so hot and rubbery that it sticks to your skin.

"People catch me rubbing my tummy, but I'm not broody at all - it's just because it's so uncomfortable."

Jennifer, who has been in Hollyoaks for five years, began as a child actor, but work dried up when she was 17 and she got a job in a gym, only to miss acting so much she was determined to return to her old career.

She auditioned eight times before finally being cast as Mercedes.

She said: "It was a nine to five job selling memberships and I just realised it wasn't doing anything for me. So I got an agent and decided to get back into acting. It was very difficult starting at 21 because I'd been out of the business for a while.

"Eventually I was put forward for Hollyoaks, but I had to go back eight times before they offered me the role. I'm proud I dug myself out of somewhere I wasn't happy."

I really do hate Ethan and the actor every time I think about it more though. Like I said before, with that stupid love rat thing with the girls and now him being "serious detective" how the hell we meant to take him seriously. He looks about 12

That the thing that annoys me about HO, certain family members will be away for ages with no explanation.

Also you know with the "boys" flat, Noah was meant to be in charge of all the bills and that, yet it's not shown anything since he's left :/ Who's meant to be in there now, Ethan and Doug? And Doug who has not has a job or paid anything since he moved it lol

The cast is too big so they can't have lots in one scene, hence why some disappear off screen for a while and then the characters who've been used a lot have their turn for an off screen break.

The flat is going to run on flat air with no bills planned.

Pete needs his own storyline, the actor isn't bad but the way they've used the character and the change from wanting revenge on Brendan to all sweet is confusing. Writers to blame!

It will be carrying on until the end of the year at least, plenty more to come and there is already confirmation that his family will find out but that would have had to happen anyway.
