Well if they sang GSTQ then it is Davids national anthem...he's British after all.

And JJ the closet case has English parents and UK passport so Im sure it wasnt a stretch. Especially as he seems to think he's Beckham.

I don't want foreigners singing our anthem anyways. Its wrong.

well i never knew that thanks very interesting no idea about the words though.

edit: the words are different they translate as this.
ENGLISH TRANSLATION

High above the young Rhine
Lies Liechtenstein, resting
On Alpine heights.
This beloved homeland,
This dear fatherland
Was chosen for us by
God's wise hand.
This beloved homeland,
This dear fatherland
Was chosen for us by
God's wise hand.

Long live Liechtenstein,
Blossoming on the young Rhine,
Happy and faithful!
Long live the Prince of the Land,
Long live our fatherland,
United by brotherly bonds and free.
Long live the Prince of the Land,
Long live our fatherland,
United by brotherly bonds and free

Thanks for the info. You can have a gold star for that. Are you trying to fit the translation into the music? I gave up.

Why, it didnt help the England team. I dont think Ashley cole sings the anthem either and over the four games he was one of the better players that turned up. Whereas John Terry sung his heart out and was at fault for all four of the German goals in my opinion (Totally out of position for all four goals and little or no attempt to get back into position). (He was probably collecting german wag's phone numbers at the time.)

Why would she even know the English national anthem? She's not English.

England need a new anthem, I think. GSTQ is meant to be the UK national anthem.

This often gets thrown up, about as often as we get beat by the germans (so quite regularly then), and the usual one heading the alternative anthem charts is usually Jerusalem. Im not struck on that myself. Any suggestions apart from "Always look on the bright side of life"?

How many of the housemates would be able to name the Irish national anthem, let alone sing it?

Probably none.

So why the heck is Caoimhe expected to know the BRITISH* national anthem?

* hence why Dave and John both know it (or should have done)

Caoihme's quite happy to soak up the fame on British big brother.. if she doesn't like it then she should have gone on big brother Ireland!

Neither England nor Scotland have an official National Anthem. Flower of Scotland is the unofficial one for Scotland while England use the British one. Wales do have a national anthem, called 'Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau'

GSTQ is the British National Anthem, as well as the royal anthem of Australia, the Bahamas, Barbados, Canada and Jamaica.

It was actually in the news a few days ago about how England should get its own Anthem - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/politics/10407937.stm

Well firstly, according to Caoihme, Big Brother approached HER to come on the show.

Secondly, Big Brother held auditions in Ireland, it is broadcast in Ireland and up until the voting scandals you could vote from Ireland.

Hence, Big Brother UK effectively includes Ireland

And finally who said anything about her not liking it? This is about hert not knowing the words

She's on a BRITISH show in BRITAIN. If I were on an Irish show in Ireland maybe I would, out of respect, sing their anthem. What's more she should have been asked to wear a red shirt. John James wore a red shirt and he's an Aussie. She should have worn a red shirt with an Irish badge on it, but as usual, the more politically sensitive nations have to have special treatment.

Areyou seriously saying if you were accepted onto Big Brother in Slovakia/Italy/Germany you would learn their national anthem before you went on??

Really.....?

No... maybe not... but you catch my drift. I wouldn't think twice about wearing an Irish shirt if I were in Ireland. Or a German shirt if I were in Germany. And actually I already know the Italian National Anthem... but you wouldn't want me to sing it, I assure you. I make Sunshine sound like a really good singer.

Sunshine does sound like a strangled cat!

Im thinking if there were other foreign HMs this year they would all be given their own gear too. I think its more to do with having pride in the country you are from rather than the country you are currently residing in.
