Someone else suggested he do this - possibly a contact / friend who works on BB - and they picked him because they knew he'd be like this and it does make good TV. He's a HM people can love to hate, hate to love and love to love. I think he's friggin' riot.

It all depends on what your view of funny is, to me watching a dry balls who won't do anything isn't funny in the slightest. When the HMs do the tasks, that's funny. I don't like Shabby but her doing the task was class.

And he may not have watched previous BBs but once he applied I'm pretty sure he did a bit of research about what he was getting himself in for!

Shabbys task was very difficult considering how much she dislikes Ben and had a big fight with him the day before. Bens task was very easy compared to it.

I think him talking back to the Tree and f-in up the task was better TV than him arm-wrestling would have been. Nuff said.

Agree with the OP. He gave up before it stated. The argument was jaw dropping TV. Cringe worthy more than funny. I dont think its fun to see someone with so little sense of humour. He failed to see the funny side of talking with a tree and ended up trading insults with an inanimate object. I think is undoubtedly one of the dimmest HM's ever . He makes Jade Goody look like Einstein.

alternatively Ben knew he had absolutely NO CHANCE of completing the task as team shabby would never play a game that he initiated unless their lady master was away ( on either another date with her pretendy lurve interest or something) as he, we and the producers were well aware of.

Loved the way he turned it round saying he would do it only if he wanted to and thought he could and would not be bullied by a set of drawers

same as the taped to the wall task. Get a roll of gaffer tape and wrap it tightly round your body over your lungs. You might then appreciate how difficult it can be to breathe even if you could move your shoulders back. the girls could have avoided his lung area and taped arms and shoulders more. Try it cos that does work

Not true at all, well, obviously I can only speak for myself here but I wouldn't class myself as a Ben hater at all, I don't like him that much but not a hater. I would class myself as a Shabby hater but I was impressed by her tot task and wasn't looking for faults just cos I don't like her. So I think you've wronged me there in your assumptions Mr. Stone!

I happily take back my assuption that you are one of the peeps that are a ben hater, altho this thread is imo.

I actually disliked Shabby and the producers more for the way they set ben up with shabby's task. Cant agree that it was in any way difficult because she is twofaced a lot of the time in there. Just look at the amount of backstabbing she has been doing to Caoimhe in between trying to get in her pants. He, being nice but socially awkward, was looking for a way to actually talk with her to clear the air but she would not allow it until the task. She then pretended to be ok with him for a little longer until she knifed him in the back with JJ

This task was set with the intention of ben failing and having to go thru the very nasty ordeal of doing standup to a crowd that might not like him too much, they booed him last week remember, so that the producer's fav, Shabby, will get a boost from all the ben hate and not walk( as if she would) cos her team had been destroyed.

That's what I find so astonishing. Most people would have been like - WTF I'm being insulted by tree. This is so surreal - but not Ben he throw insults back and at no point sees the funny side. It was a astounding piece of TV. He made a bit of a burk of himself.

Actually, I think the others should take a little blame.
