What do you mean - "becoming". He's been a parody of himself since around BB5/6. Still baffles me how his Geordie accent got stronger the more time he spent living down south! You listen to old BB1 episodes and it's nowhere near as thick.


That said though, Marcus has been annoying me less this series - thanks mainly to some long overdue changes in the way the show is put together.

Marcus Bentley is legend and one of the last remaining foot soldiers in the now rare art of professional narration. I admire him professionally.

He is one of the few people today who's voice itself actually has tremendous 'emotional' satisfaction on listeners. The moment you hear "...Daaay Wun. The Housemates are in.." and you KNOW your Summer pleasure is well and truly begun.

Look, EVERY narrator you have ever heard is affecting some kind of voice, pronunciation, 'accent', class.
It is 'acting' although closer to the sense in which a suit and haircut is put on for presentation.
Marcus has always says he purposely enriches his native Geordie accent as this is the 'voice character' of BB.
In fact, I seem to recall (fading memory now) but in the beginning he was actually criticized for trying too hard to put-on a 'London BBC' and even complained he was wrong to try and 'hide' his Geordie roots etc,
but,
he knows what he is doing, why and the proof is in the results - one of THE most famous and beloved voices of a generation.

MB is also one of the few unique people who BB cannot be without.
If you do not have Davina presenting then its not a truly BB and if you don't have that voice narrating - you do not have a true BB. Its some other version. Not the real one.

Anyways.. someone told me the guy is a bit of a dick but I don't know about that.
