My mum died suddenly aged 54 from a stroke, and my dad died five years later aged 61 from lung cancer. Neither of them lived long enough to see any of their grandchildren which always saddens me.

I feel like this too. I have both of my parents and I bitch and whine about them all the time. I didn't realize how much I take them for granted

My mum's alive, my dad is dead. He died when I was 30. I had no contact from him most of my life until I was 21 when he contacted me, so I wasn't particularly close to him. I grieved forhim in my own way but I felt pty for him more than anything else as he missed out on seeing his kids grow up.
My Grandma lived with us most of my life so she was my 2nd parent. She passed away nearly 3 years ago and that hurt like hell ![]()

Well hopefully this government repfroms the health service.... when she first got referred she had to wait 5 months for the scans....and then it took 2 more years before diagnosis.... im sure she would have had a better chance had it not being for some peoples incompetance.

No grandparents, and no parents. Father took his own life when I was 38, mother kept trying to do the same thing time and time again, and ended up being sectioned. Haven't seen her for many years now.
In the space of 4 years, I effectively lost 2 cats I'd had since I was 20, one father, one grandmother who just about raised me, and my mother to depression and alcohol. Not a good experience. ![]() |

thanks for the cuddle...... I have this 'mantra' that life deals the toughest blows to those who it thinks can 'handle' it. C'est la vie and all that. I have fabulous friends who I would die for, and them me. I have a job with a decent salary, a nice car, a home that I love, have holidays abroad twice a year. Given the life some have and the cards that some are dealt with:- I still have to see that life could be so much worse. People die, (and beloved pets) regardless.....they do leave this earth at some point - by whatever means, and for whatever reason - and that I've accepted. That said, that doesn't negate that some on here seem to have had a real 'sore' time (Kerry for example). in that respect and to those concerned..... massive ![]() |

Now that..... that angers me. Strangely enough: I was reading something online only last week - about someone who had been going to the doctor - had something like 38 different appointments - and it was cancer of the kidneys or something. Finally diagnosed but far too late. That saddens me greatly. Sorry for your loss Iceman. Hell of a young age to lose your mum. ![]() |
