The blonde girl (Daenerys) and her brother are the last of the Targaryens, their father was the king but he went a bit mental and was usurped and Daenerys and her brother Viserys had to go on the run so they would not be killed. Viserys is the heir to the thrown (as long as he gets rid of the Usurper, King Robert Baratheon) and he needs an army and money to take it back, he's trying to get money and an army together by selling his sister to Khal Drogo, the horse Lord, he plans for Khal Drogo to bring his army to Westros to take the thrown back for him

Answered Khal Drogo. I'm up to episode 5 season 1 and he's one of the only characters that I know the name of. Had a look on Wiki to try and clear up who's who only to find out that he dies soon. LOL.

I'm starting to enjoy it much more I'm at the episode where Sean Beans character has that fight with the other bloke who I think is some kind of knight. Another character gets stabbed in the eye and I presume is dead.

Theres not too much exposition in this show and I should really give it more attention it is starting to get very interesting. I've got more of an idea of what is going on but still no idea of who's who.

Khal Drogo and Daenerys were my favourites for season 1, I found Daenerys started getting really annoying as time went on though
